 04Knysna Areas ON THE WATER Thesen Islands A secure marina development that offers laid-back waterside living. Being a marina, the primary focus is of course on water activities, however there is plenty to keep every family member entertained. These include improving your putting skills on the mini-golf course, taking the kids to play in the park, spotting a rare bird from the bird hide, or simply relaxing on the beach. For the more energetic, there are also tennis and squash courts. Thesen Harbour town, which offers great restaurants and interesting boutique stores, is a short stroll away. Leisure Island This popular holiday area is situated on the lagoon and has lovely views of the Outeniqua mountains on one side and the famous Heads on the other. As the beach is on the lagoon, the waves are gentle, making bathing safe for smaller children. If you enjoy swimming, walking, fishing, sailing or kite surfing, this is the place for you. Knysna Quays A secure, residential, 'apartment-type' marina development which is within walking distance to town, and adjacent to the Knysna Waterfront: a hive of activity with super restaurants, coffee shops and excellent shopping. The Waterfront is also the docking station for the three ferries offering trips to the Heads; and for sailing enthusiasts, the Knysna Yacht club is a stone's throw away. Many homes have private moorings so you have the added convenience of stepping off your patio and into your boat. LAGOON VIEW The Heads This area has a 'Mediterranean feel' about it and is situated on the famous Eastern Head with panoramic views over to the Western Head and the tranquil waters of the lagoon. Access to the lagoon for swimming or fishing is relatively easy, and at low tide you are able to wade through the shallow water from the Heads to Leisure Island. A good restaurant and excellent coffee shop, both with fantastic views is situated close by. Paradise Area Superb views over the lagoon to the Heads, this suburb lives up to its name. Paradise offers comfortable family homes while being conveniently close to town. If you want a home-from-home holiday with a little more garden space than the average seaside apartment offers, this is the area where you are most likely to find it. NEAR THE SEA Brenton-on-Sea This quiet little village, not far from Knysna, has beautiful views of the ocean and is a perfect place to relax and unwind. The long, unspoiled beaches are perfect for sunbathing, paddling and, if you are feeling enthusiastic, a leisurely stroll to Buffalo Bay, which is further along the coast. The area is also famous for the rare Brenton Blue butterfly. An idyllic spot if you want ocean views and prefer to be out of town. IN THE COUNTRY We have various options in this category; some situated on the outskirts of town in a quaint farming village as you enter Knysna from George; and others a little further out in the opposite direction, heading towards Plettenberg Bay. These areas are perfect if you enjoy the slow, easy pace of country life. TOWN If you prefer to be within easy walking distance of Knysna's shops and restaurants, we have a selection of homes and apartments. Some have lagoon views and others have a historic, 'olde world' charm because they date back to Knysna's early days.
